When One Alone Won’t Do

Prayer Part 2-Take Authority

January 6th, 2009

According to Bible studies from Kenneth Copeland, we have authority over this realm and with prayer we exercise our authority, not by begging, but by an authoritative command to our situation, sickness, weakness, to angels, fear etc. For example, instead of saying “please God heal her.” You instead speak directly to the sickness and you say with authority “Sickness, you get off her now!! Her body is made well and you can’t have her.” ” I take authority over this situation right now in the name of Jesus.”

To angels we might say, “Angels, move now on her behalf for whatever she needs right now.” The Christians speak in the name of Jesus because in his life he was a being of light that acted with supreme authority over sickness, imbalance, and even death. He was not moved by what he saw. He was moved by what he knew. He knew that he was completely divine and that the divine essence was in everything, therefore when he spoke
he would directly activate the power and authority of that divine essence, and what he spoke would come into existence. (Read the Course in Miracles for more insight.)

He only held the picture in his mind of wellness, strength and perfect balance, which is our true and divine nature. With that precept as he spoke, touched, or prayed perfect balance, and even the life, was restored. Jesus also said that all that he was able to do; we were not only able and capable of doing but that we could do more. Many times Jesus reflected back to the person her/his own wants. “What do you want me to do?” “What do you want done?” He made her/him speak out loud exactly what she/he wanted. Then most times in doing what was asked he would say, “Then according to your words it is done.” “Your faith has made you well.”

Take authority. Declare the outcome!! Keep that image of wellness in your mind and don’t be swayed from it. Remember God is always willing!!

Playing Hurt

January 6th, 2009

“Do not look forward to what might happen tomorrow: The same God who cares for you today will take care of you and yours tomorrow and everyday. Either God will shield you from suffering or God will give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace then and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations.” St Francis Desales

“Hands down,” my husband said. “It’s Super Bowl Sunday and you need to write another “Playing Hurt” Newsletter.

It was a tradition started by our old pastor and dear friend, Wayne Smith, arguably one of the most influential Christian pastors in America. He preached tirelessly for over forty years to the faithful who, Sunday after Sunday, both drove great distances to hear him preach as well as sat in bumper-to-bumper traffic for endless miles of the stretch down the only highway leading to the mammoth church in Kentucky. His message was always divinely inspired, but it was his yearly “Playing Hurt” sermon on Super Bowl Sunday that drew the ravest reviews.

It’s because most of us are playing hurt. In one way or another.

And so I wrote my first “Playing Hurt” Newsletter last year, as I played “excruciatingly hurt” when Nick got diagnosed with cancer. Am I worry-free now? Completely walking in faith without shuffling in fear? Absolutely not. I’m only human. I still play hurt on some days, like I did this Thursday when I got a phone call from him saying that he had a fever and was in the doctor’s office. My stomach moved to my throat; my heart raced faster; and my mind played mental gymnastics that were something less than limber.

I admit to playing hurt this year for entirely different reasons. I’m a tad bit physically hurt…but it’s that “good hurt” that comes from exhausting exercise, the kind that I didn’t get quite enough of last year because of Nick’s treatment. It’s similar to the kind of hurt that the football players in the Super Bowl play through. Achy muscle hurt. Broken bone hurt. Sore ribs hurt. As the football players stay in the game despite their hurt (did you catch the player riding the stationary bike through a pulled groin?), I booked a tennis game for tomorrow morning. Despite a throbbing previously-broken shoulder and a throbbing-even-more previously-shattered leg. I need to play hurt to make my body even stronger. Professional football players stay in the Super Bowl with broken fingers, pounding muscles, and aching heads. They stick it out until the end. Keep their eye on the ball. Until the game is over and a winner declared.

This year finds many friends of mine suffering emotional pain, and I’m playing hurt with them. Fractured relationships, parenting challenges, strained marriages. Playing hurt while helping them sort out difficult issues. And I have my own playing hurt issues to resolve, too. Disappointments on the business and personal side that require healing.

And these long, bitter days of winter don’t exactly help to lift our spirits, do they? Full of bleakness and of gray, devoid of sunshine and flowers, our landscapes are marked by leafless trees and barely-bubbling creeks. The dreariness makes it even easier to bathe in hurt and in pain. To become depressed with feelings of helplessness and hopelessness. With little in the next weeks to look forward to other than a possible delivery from the florist on Valentine’s Day or the surprise of some dark chocolate, it’s almost “natural” to walk around playing completely hurt. No bright, happy colors in wardrobes or nature to inspire and delight our senses, playing hurt in January seems a logical choice.

All of us play hurt at some point in our lives. It’s not the
playing hurt that separates us from the rest; it’s how we choose
to play when we play hurt. I am fully aware that when I play sad
when playing hurt, that I do not play my best game. Because I
wallow in too much self-pity and take my eye off the ball. I am
also fully aware that when I play scared when playing hurt I do
not play my best game, either. Because then I live in fear
instead of in faith. And when I play angry, I play a pretty
horrible game, too. Because then I get cranky with everyone
around me and take all the fun out of things. Playing angry when
playing hurt serves no useful purpose at all; I need to clean out a closet or sweep the hardwood floors on those days.

When I play hurt, I need to play strong. I need to abandon fear and worry and instead, incorporate a walk in faith. “The Lord is
near the broken-hearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” I need to stop playing angry and get on with the game. I need to enter into the game with joy and with hope, for “those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not grow faint.”

Playing hurt is never as much fun as playing pain-free. Not in football nor in tennis nor in life. But playing hurt is something that, every now and then, we are forced to play. And sometimes through it, but certainly in the end, we’ll see the beauty in strength. “…strength that endures the unendurable
and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that He has for us.” (Colossians 1: 11-12)

With daffodils and sunshine just around the corner, I pray that whether you’re playing hurt or playing strong, you will gain strength with each passing day and that you will eventually soar like the eagles. Just like the pros at the Super Bowl.

Asia, Africa and Climate Modification

January 5th, 2009

As often seems the case, less developed countries seem to receive the bulk of the impact when it comes to negative world developments. The third world and climate modification is no different.

Third World and Climate modification

By definition, climate modification impacts the globe as a whole. That being said, is it possible to predict specific results in certain regions of the world? While there is no definitive answer, the impact on third world countries in Asia and Africa has been the subject of much discussion. Let’s take a look.

Africa is considered a third world continent because a vast majority of the African countries have underdeveloped economies and living standards. Unfortunately, Africa is also believed to be one of the most heavily impacted areas when it comes to climate modification. More than half the people in Africa live in rural areas with agricultural economies. These communities rely heavily on naturally occurring rain resources, to wit, planned irrigation is minimal. This, of course, results in the horrific famines we see on television. Climate modification is predicted to devastate Africa because it is believed the greenhouse effect will reduce the amount of rain received on the continent. As the Sahara Desert expands, less land will be available for farming and the problem will grow worse. Malnutrition from famines will lead to weak immune systems and disease will be prevalent. If the predictions are accurate, Africa could become a living nightmare.

Climate modification could devastate Asia as well. You might be surprised to learn that over 60 percent of the human population lives in greater Asia. This mass of humanity has stretched agricultural and health resources to the maximum. To top it off, large population centers sit right on the coastline in flat areas only a few feet above sea level.

If climate modification trends continue, we will be saying goodbye to large chunks of Asia. Cities such as Jakarta, Tokyo and Bangkok sit at sea level. If the melting polar caps result in a three foot rise in sea levels as predicted, these cities will be underwater. Countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia and Bangladesh are expected to lose 37,000 square miles of coastline under a similar situation. Over 34 million people will suddenly have to move to already congested population centers. Economies, health care and food supplies will undoubtedly reach critical levels.

Is there any good news when discussing the third world and climate modification? Yes. The first step is to put regulations in place that reduce greenhouse gases. Second, proactive planning must be undertaken to account for these potential effects of third world climate modification.

A One Minute Meditation

January 5th, 2009

Maybe learning to meditate intimidates you, and in any case it’s tough to find the time for daily meditation. The solution to both problems is an easy meditation you can learn right now, that will only take a minute to do each day.

An Easy Meditation Technique

Breathing through your mouth expands your chest, but if you breath through your nose you’ll notice how your abdomen extends. You see, nose-breathing causes the diaphram to pull air to the bottom of your lungs. This delivers a good dose of oxygen into your bloodstream and brain. It also tends to relax you.

Breathing through your nose is healthier, and it’s the basis of this one-minute meditation. You simply close your eyes, let the tension go out of your muscles, let go of your thoughts (to the extent possible), and take four slow, deep breaths through your nose, paying attention to your breathing.

Is Meditation This Easy?

You’re not likey to get you into a deep meditative state with this simple exercise. You will get benefits, though. These will almost certainly include a clearer mind and a reduction in stress.

Try to develop a “trigger” for your meditation. You can do your four breaths when you get into the car, for example, or right after lunch each day. A trigger is a place or time that reminds you, so your meditation becomes a habit.

Some may say this isn’t “real” meditation, but there’s nothing wrong with enjoying the relaxation you’ll get from this technique. You can always pursue deeper meditation later, if you wish. In the meantime, remember that not everything has to be difficult to be of value. Why not do an easy one-minute meditation right now?

Steve Gillman writes on many self help topics including boosting brainpower, losing weight, meditation, habits of mind, creative problem solving, learning gratitude, generating luck and anything related to self improvement. You’ll find more at http://www.SelfImprovementNow.com

King Of The Hill (Season 3) DVD Review

January 3rd, 2009

Initially aired following the 1997 Super Bowl, King of the Hill discovered an instant audience niche that has the followed the show loyally ever since. The brainchild of Beavis and Butthead creator Mike Judge (also known for the hit movie Office Space), King of the Hill is a unique animated series in that it doesn’t rely on “cartoon” suspension of reality or outlandish antics. In fact, the show would arguably be just as successful if it were not animated at all. Nevertheless, it’s Mike Judge (voice of Hank Hill) and his unique brand of humor that make King of the Hill a must-see TV series…

Set in the fictional town of Arlen, Texas, King of the Hill follows the life and exploits of Hank Hill and his traditional nuclear family. Hank is a red-state propane salesman who loves beer and apple pie, but he’s constantly inundated with modern liberalism and grapples with the demands of political correctness. Hank is joined by his wife Peggy (a substitute teacher), his son Bobby (an awkward pre-pubescent youth), and a trailer park-like live-in niece named Luanne… Providing added comic relief to the series are Hank’s off-the-wall friends Bill, Boomhauer (who is inaudible), and Dale (who believes everything is a government conspiracy)… Hank’s Laotian neighbor Kahn (whose daughter Bobby is quite fond of) and his family live next door, providing Hank with a continuing dose of culture shock…

The King of the Hill (Season 3) DVD offers a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere “Death of a Propane Salesman” in which Hank and Luanne narrowly escape a propane explosion at the Mega Lo Mart, prompting Hank to develop a job-threatening fear of propane. Meanwhile, Luanne (who had her hair burnt off in the explosion) follows in the footsteps of Sinead O’Connor and becomes a community activist… Other notable episodes from Season 3 include “Pregnant Paws” in which Hank becomes obsessed in his effort to breed his dog, and “The Wedding of Bobby Hill” in which the Hill family, in order to teach Bobby a valuable lesson, manage to convince him that he’ll have to marry his cousin Luanne…

Psychic Phone Readings

January 3rd, 2009

Mention the term ‘psychic phone reader’ and most people scoff in cynical incredulity. Others simply shrug their shoulders admitting that they don’t know what to believe. Sadly, a number of scam artists duping vulnerable people with questionable services are overshadowing the legitimate gifted people. Just as when locating a doctor or lawyer one makes enquiries, one must make an effort to locate an authentic psychic phone reader.

Speculation notwithstanding, with attractive commercials endorsing the power of psychic phone readers to transform our lives, a large number of callers are paying up to $2 a minute for a supernatural advisor. Though some people prefer an impersonal voice offering them counseling, which they feel helps them in opening up more easily, others consider the personal interaction that comes with meeting a psychic reader in person more gratifying.

New clients usually have no idea how a psychic phone reading works and hence the guesswork about its accuracy. When a person makes up his mind to undertake a phone reading, he is making a conscious decision to see the past, present and future outcome of a particular situation. This creates a connection between him and the reader. His mind continuum contains all the necessary physical information that is required for the session though eventually, the psychic is not reading the physical body at all; he is reading the Akashic Record. Therefore a person does not have to be physically present for a psychic reading.

An important thing to keep in mind is that when a person has decided to trust his psychic reader, a lot of vital information becomes available to the reader. A genuine psychic reading, particularly on the telephone, should not include too many personal questions by the reader; rather, the customer should receive direct answers to his questions.

Psychic Readings provides detailed information on Accurate Psychic Readings, Inspirational Psychic Readings, Live Psychic Readings, Psychic Palm Readings and more. Psychic Readings is affiliated with Famous Psychic Mediums.

As A Salesperson, I’m Making Double The Money, But It’s Just Not ME!

January 2nd, 2009

Everybody isn’t cut out for a career in selling.

Let me share a story from the Goodman Chronicles…

I was a regular at a health food restaurant that seemed to have a knack for hiring upbeat, perky, energetic people. So, in addition to having a killer ice tea, with a catnip type of flavor and addictiveness, the joint had great servers.

I took a shine to one of the spunkiest, and I thought, “Wow, if I could only get her on the phone, promoting my sales and customer service training products, she’d be a definite winner!”

It took some persuasion, but she agreed to start, part-time, during non-restaurant shift hours.

And sure enough, she was great!

Within a week, she doubled her average earnings at her regular job, and I was very optimistic about her future growth potential.

Then, out of the blue, she walked into my office and asked if I had a minute.

“I’d like to thank you for this opportunity,” she began, and my heart sank.

“And I know I’m doing pretty well,” she continued, as I nodded my head, as if to say, you’re darned right you are!

“But,” and here was the death blow, “This just isn’t ME!”

Oh my gosh, I thought. How can it not be you? You’re doing great, you’re off your feet, and this is a brand new career opportunity.

How can it not be YOU?

I think it’s you!

Your bank account thinks it’s you!

What’s up?

To make a long story short, she just didn’t want to sell.

There are people like this. They can succeed, yet walk away, something true salespeople could never fathom.

But, if you’re hiring, you need to be aware of this phenomenon.

You can do everything right, offering the best training and compensation, yet it won’t be good enough for ardent non-salespeople.

I was humbled by this experience, but there was a silver lining.

I developed an innovative program, called “The New Telemarketing,” specifically for non-sellers, and it has performed brilliantly. It enables them to sell but to feel that they’re servicing, not intruding; and it gets results.

Most important, it avoids that sad disappointment, that selling is just not “THEM!”

How to Buy Wholesale Store Fixtures for Your Business

January 1st, 2009

It may sound funny, but honestly, if you’re opening up your own retail store the last thing you’ll ever want to do again for the rest of your life is buy anything retail — especially if it’s for your own store. Buying your store fixtures wholesale is not only mandatory it’s a last resort after you’ve tried buying antique fixtures at a fraction of the cost. Even if you’ve hired a top-notch retail store designer, he or she should be buying your fixtures and other materials at prices even better than wholesale. The designer should be charging for his services and not making a markup on the raw materials.

If you’re setting up your store by yourself, you have to shop around to know the best wholesale prices to pay for your fixtures. But expect to pay full price for the design and manufacture of items that must be custom-made for you. For example, if you want a certain look imitated in a new material you can expect to pay a premium for that service as well. But if your tastes are not too esoteric and if your product can be handled tastefully in a variety of attractive displays you should have no trouble finding the right fixtures at the right wholesale prices to fit your budget. Research and flexibility is the key here. After all, whatever it is that you are selling, you wouldn’t pay retail for it, so why pay retail for the fixtures?

There are numerous store fixture wholesalers in and around every city in
America. There are enough stores in existence in any major city and enough new ones opening up to make the wholesale market for fixtures a healthy and competitive one. Visit them, get their catalogues when you are planning the look of your store and ask them about closeouts and discontinued items for sale. Their business, like yours, changes with the seasons, the trends and technology. Give yourself time to make your purchase and you may end up getting the fixtures you’ve been wanting at prices even better than you expected.

Store Fixtures Info provides detailed information on metal, antique, wholesale, and used store fixtures and store fixture parts. Store Fixtures Info is the sister site of Mannequins Web.
